Chelsea may play key role in Mikey Moore transfer call at Tottenham - Expert

Mikey Moore's Tottenham Hotspur future could weirdly come down to Chelsea.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who feels like the pre-season clash between the sides could influence any decisions.

Tottenham News has covered claims that Borussia Dortmund want to sign Moore on loan.

However, nothing has progressed on that front, and his situation is still up in the air.

Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that the Lilywhites are still in the market for wingers, and that he will try to find the best solution for the 18-year-old.

Moore enjoyed a highly successful spell with Rangers last season, and loaning him out again could be the best move.

Wenham confirmed that he has seen the comments from the boss, and he feels that pre-season will define his next destination.

The Lilywhite Rose owner believes that if Moore performs well against the Stamford Bridge side on 1 August, he could be in with a chance of staying.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "I did read Roberto Zerbi's comments after the game on Mikey Moore.

"I think it's one of those where we'll just have to assess two things.

"Firstly, who else comes into the club during the transfer window, if a high-profile left-winger such as Savinho, Cody Gakpo, Omar Marmoush, eventually signs, that's going to have a detrimental impact on Mikey's development, then it probably would be best for him to head out on loan.

"You've got Mathys Tel at the club. Wilson Odobert is injured for now, but will return at some point, you have got to take all the options into consideration when you've got a player like that and you don't want to dampen their game time, especially after what a successful loan he had last season at Rangers, and the minutes he got under his belt.

"If he gets a lot of opportunities over pre-season, I'm thinking more, rather than the Sydney game, maybe the Chelsea game, if he did really well against Chelsea, then it would be very difficult to put forward a case for him going out on loan again.

"If he did really well against Chelsea, that's a level of team that we want, that we deserve Tottenham to be competing with and beating in the Premier League following this summer's huge amount of investment so far."

Why Tottenham need to get Moore decision right

Ultimately, Moore needs to be playing regular football, it is as simple as that.

If he is sat on the Spurs bench, not playing, then he will not develop and be ready for Premier League first-team football in the future.

If there is a spot available in the side, then he should be given the opportunity, but if a new signing is made, a loan is a no brainer.

Spurs can't afford to make the wrong call and hinder his chances of becoming a star.
