Tottenham Hotspur will begin their pre-season in July, with the club eager to get going with a fresh start under Roberto De Zerbi.

The Lilywhites are looking to turn a corner after a miserable season last campaign, which almost resulted in Premier League relegation.

Thomas Frank was hired around 12 months ago, which was the first of many poor decisions made in N17 this past year.

Perhaps one of the only good things to come to Spurs in recent times is De Zerbi, and the club have clearly realised this when looking at the summer business conducted so far.

The likes of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for free, while the Lilywhites plashed over £50million for Jan Paul van Hecke.

Now, Spurs fans will be eager to see De Zerbi's new signings in action, as Tottenham News takes a look at how soon that may be.

When does Tottenham's pre-season training begin?

With the World Cup going on, there is a slight chance of disruption for Tottenham and other teams.

However, the Lilywhites will try to avoid distractions, with the players due back for training in the second week of July, before the World Cup finishes on 19 July.

The first days of the players reporting back to their Enfield-based training ground will see focus on medical and physical examinations, as the footballs will be back on the grass the week commencing 13 July.

Tottenham's confirmed friendlies: all the information you need to know

Tottenham will begin their pre-season by hosting MK Dons in a behind-closed-doors match at Hotspur Way on Wednesday, 22 July, which will kick off at 4pm local time.

The players and staff will then get on a plane and head to New Zealand shortly after to kick off their summer pre-season tour.

Spurs will take on Auckland FC at Eden Park on Sunday, 26 July at 11am UK time before travelling to Australia to face Sydney FC on Wednesday, 29, which will also kick off at 11am in the UK. This one will be hosted at Allianz Stadium.

Tottenham will then finish off their Sydney Super Cup competition against Xabi Alonso's Chelsea on Saturday, 1 August, which will take place at the Accor Stadium, with kick-off set for 10:45am for the fans following from back in the UK.

Event organisers have yet to announce a way fans can stream the game live, though SPURSPLAY has been a way to watch for pre-season friendlies in previous years, so stay tuned for updates.

The rumours of extra Tottenham pre-season friendlies

Tottenham's Premier League season kicks off against Brentford on Saturday, 22 August, and so there is exactly three weeks between their match against Chelsea and their first competitive game of the campaign.

It is expected that more friendlies will be announced in due course, with a possibility of a game being hosted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Lilywhites did not have a pre-season game hosted at their own ground last year, and so there remains an element of uncertainty this time round, too.

Either way, multiple new friendlies are expected to be confirmed for August.
