Mikey Moore needs just 45 minutes to show why Tottenham have superstar on their hands

Mikey Moore has taken no time at all to show exactly what he is all about while out on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 19-year-old impressed on loan with Scottish Premiership side Rangers last season when making 47 appearances in all competitions.

There were hopes he would be integrated into Tottenham's first team this season under Roberto De Zerbi.

But after featuring in Spurs' first two Premier League games, starting the first of those, another loan was sanctioned.

Moore will now spend 2026-27 with Cologne, where he will get regular minutes in the Bundesliga.

And it is fair to say the England Under-20s international is already making waves at his new club.

How did Mikey Moore perform on Cologne debut?

Moore was named among the substitutes for Cologne's trip to Stuttgart on Friday night.

Having only arrived from Spurs on Monday, Moore is being slowly integrated into the team.

He was introduced from the bench at half-time and needed little time to get going.

Moore had two shots on target - no Cologne player could better that - and registered an expected goals (xG) tally of 0.27.

The Spurs academy product completed 12 of his 13 attempted passes for a 92 per cent accuracy rate, while also recording one successful dribble.

He may have lost possession three times, but that is the nature of trying to make something happen.

Cologne supporters were impressed by Moore's instant impact, as was manager Rene Wagner, who hailed him as "exceptional".

"I'm delighted he's here. I think we all know he has incredible qualities," he added when speaking to reporters after the game.

"He essentially changed the game after coming on. The lad always wants the ball, is always active, and always has solutions going forward.

"In 45 minutes, he was able to give a glimpse of what we expect from him. We're happy he's here.

"You can already see his exceptional quality. He’ll be a huge help to us all season long."

Moore will now hope to start Cologne's next game, which is against Werder Bremen in a week's time.

What are the details of Moore's Tottenham loan exit?

Moore has joined Cologne from Spurs on a straight loan deal, meaning there is no option to make it permanent next summer.

There is an argument to be had that Moore would have been better off staying in North London this season.

Many felt he looked raw when handed a start at Brentford on the opening day of the season.

That may be true, but he at least looked lively, which is more than can be said for pretty much each of his attacking teammates.

Moore's xG of 0.38 on the day was easily the most of any visiting player at the Gtech Community Stadium.

While he may have missed two Opta-define big chances, he constantly got himself into good positions.

The hope now is that he thrives in the Bundesliga, as he did in Scotland, and returns to Spurs first-team ready eight months from now.
