Tottenham to follow Luka Vuskovic model as expert lays out Lucas Bergvall exit plan

Lucas Bergvall looks destined to leave Tottenham this summer, with Nottingham Forest the likely favourites to sign him.

That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, who believes he is an obvious candidate for an exit.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been subject to significant interest from Premier League rivals.

Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have had offers rejected, in and around the £48million mark.

The Lilywhites are understood to have told the Swedish star that he will stay put, but that stance could be swayed.

Wenham has revealed the reality about a potential sale that interested teams need to pay attention to.

How much will it take to convince Tottenham to sell Lucas Bergvall?

Wenham thinks it will take a figure of over £50m to seal a deal for the promising ace.

Tottenham News has already covered why Tottenham letting Bergvall leave makes sense, and the Lilywhite Rose owner agrees and thinks one specific club will sign him.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he made a prediction, saying: "I think the reality is Bergvall is not going to get a lot of football from Tottenham this season. I think that is a deal that will get done.

"They've signed their first-choice midfielder in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. I expect that Conor Gallagher will continue to play, James Maddison's looking like he's back from injury and Archie Gray seemingly has been chosen over Bergvall as the player they want to commit as the younger player in that group.

"Bergvall has a fair price and I think when looking at the fees other players have gone for this summer, it would have to be a similar fee to Luka Vuskovic, which was £50m plus a 20 per cent sell-on.

"I personally think he'll end up going to Forest. They've got to replace Elliot Anderson, who left the club for a huge sum of money. Bergvall will go and it will be to Forest for over £50m, which is a fair and reasonable figure for a player of his quality and potential in this market."

Where has it gone wrong for Bergvall?

Bergvall made a stunning impression in his first campaign at Spurs, as he was thrown into the deep end by Ange Postecoglou.

However, he did not have as good a season in the last one, and Roberto De Zerbi seemed to have little faith in him.

The former Brighton boss has now brought in more quality and experience, which has left the 14-cap international's place in the squad looking shaky.
