Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic could be set to leave without making a competitive appearance.

Arriving from Hadjuk Split last summer, the young Croatian would join Hamburg on loan in search of game time.

And it was not just game time in which he was rewarded with, with his stocks flying through the roof as a result of his spell in North Germany.

Becoming talismanic at the Volksparkstadion, Vuskovic would be a central figure as the Red Shorts secured survival in their first Bundesliga campaign in seven years.

This summer, he returns to North London as one of, if not the most highly rated young defender in the world.

However, his future remains in doubt as a result of Tottenham's recruitment, with Brighton heavily interested in the youngster.

Tottenham set figure for Brighton to hit as Luka Vuskovic chase continues

Spurs stayed up on the final day of last season, after a late turnaround under Roberto De Zerbi.

As a result, the Italian has been handed the recruitment reins this summer, with Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson all confirmed thus far.

With Micky van de Ven also set to stay, Vuskovic has been somewhat pushed to the side, with Brighton having bids of £30million and £45m rejected.

Now, TalkSPORT report that the Lilywhites are willing to sell the defender for £60m, despite not having featured in a competitive game.

Brighton have proven smart in the transfer window in recent years, and attempted this with Vuskovic - who is keen on the move.

But with a demand set, the Seagulls will have to pay up, or risk seeing him move elsewhere.

Tottenham to feel mixed emotions amid Vuskovic saga

Should Vuskovic leave this summer, the risk of Spurs regretting the decision in years to come is there.

At 19, the towering presence has already become a star on the continent, with this backed up by the interest from one of the best talent developers out there in Brighton.

Though, it must be acknowledged that £60m is a huge fee for a player who has not touched the grass once for Tottenham outside of pre-season.

He will likely go on to be a star, but if it provides more breathing room for the ongoing rebuild, then a deal would be worthwhile at such a price.
