Tottenham backed to announce £80m+ Eli Junior Kroupi signing on 1 January

Published on:

Tottenham should be pushing forward with a move for Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi.

That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, with the January transfer window approaching.

Spurs were linked with a move for the French forward in the summer, before he suffered a foot injury that required surgery.

With the 20-year-old on the comeback trail, it may be time for Roberto De Zerbi's side to revive their interest.

The attacker would solve a key problem for the Italian boss, the lack of goals that his side score.

They have been told how to sign him when the transfer market reopens in the winter.

What do Tottenham need to do to sign Eli Junior Kroupi?

Wenham, who owns the popular Lilywhite Rose accounts, believes that Spurs have to be putting in the groundwork now.

He thinks that Spurs need to be trying to make progress on a deal in the shadows, before the window returns.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "The issue that has to be resolved in January is the striker situation.

"We were heavily linked with Kroupi in the summer, and reports said we were willing to pay £80m-100m on top of the other spending we did.

"I really hope that in the background, we are still progressing that deal, so on the 1st January, we can announce him as a Tottenham player.

"I appreciate the injury he's hand, but that should mean he isn't in the shop window for other clubs.

"Kroupi would run to play for Tottenham, as he would for Arsenal, Chelsea or whoever else, if we were confident of getting him in the summer, we should be able to do it now."

Why do Tottenham need Kroupi desperately?

Tottenham need Kroupi because they have only scored six goals in seven matches in the Premier League so far this season.

Dominic Solanke has one strike in the top-flight, Richarlison has not even been named in the league squad and Will Lankshear was sold to Middlesbrough.

Meanwhile, Kroupi scored 13 goals in 35 matches in all competitions in a stunning first campaign in English football.

He would be a brilliant addition, and as Wenham said, they should be trying to sort a transfer behind the scenes as soon as possible.
