Roberto De Zerbi is continuing to mould Tottenham Hotspur in his image this summer.

After he steered the Lilywhites to safety last season, the Italian has been handed the reins in the transfer market.

Thus far, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have came through the door.

At the same time, Spurs have been linked with moves for the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savinho and more.

This comes after the North London club finished 17th for the second successive year, while De Zerbi was handed the task of escaping relegation after Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor's dismal spells in charge.

With the ongoing rebuild in mind, there is one player who De Zerbi is hell bent on bringing in, with Tottenham set to go back in for a third time.

Newcastle United now face major Sandro Tonali decision after Tottenham move

As per The Sun, Tottenham are preparing a third bid for Sandro Tonali, after having two rejected thus far.

Newcastle have been holding out for £100million, despite the fact that the Italian has already agreed personal terms worth £230,000 per week.

De Zerbi was key in identifying Tonali as a target, and he is said to be pushing for the club to put together the £100m package.

As a result, the ball could be left firmly in Newcastle's court, with Tottenham coughing up the required funds.

Having let themselves down in the transfer market on many occasions, Spurs are seemingly determined to avoid that this summer.

And, fans will still be wishing for more, as the reshape continues at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham will have one dream scenario as Sandro Tonali deal moves closer

Spurs fans will have seen nothing alike the ambition shown in recent weeks - especially this early in a summer.

And the midfield reinforcements don't seem to be stopping after Tonali, with the Lilywhites also courting West Ham star Mateus Fernandes.

Also worth a hefty financial package, he will not come cheap, while Manchester United are also in the race.

But, Tottenham are seemingly not backing down in the race, as they look to prove that they really have changed in the transfer market.

The dream scenario would be to see both in North London, and not just for their quality, but to prove that Tottenham can compete with the top sides financially, after a string of disappointments in the transfer market.

A move for both Tonali and Fernandes would be transformative for Tottenham, for both their midfield, and stature as a club.
