Mathys Tel exit already tipped at Tottenham after Mikey Moore error - 'As early as January'

Mathys Tel could be sold by Tottenham Hotspur as early as this January.

That is the view of Lilywhite Rose owner and Spurs expert John Wenham, who shared his views exclusively to Tottenham News.

Tel has started four of Tottenham's five matches in all competitions this season, while coming off the bench in the other.

The 21-year-old's impact has been minimal in each of those, with Spurs failing to score in any of their first four Premier League games.

Despite only being at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium permanently for 15 months, the France Under-21s international has already been tipped to leave.

And that view has only been strengthened after what happened in Spurs' goalless draw with Everton.

Where could Mathys Tel end up after Tottenham?

Tel was dropped by Roberto De Zerbi against Everton after his below-par showings to date.

The Frenchman was brought on for the final half an hour of Saturday evening's clash, but once again he could not make anything happen.

De Zerbi was seen deep in conversation with Tel at full-time, with the Italian's frustration clear to see.

While the Spurs boss has attempted to play down any sort of row with Tel, it is clear he is not getting the best out of the attacker.

Based on what he has seen up to now, Wenham believes a swift exit could be on the cards for a player Spurs paid Bayern Munich £30million for.

And Wenham also believes Spurs may be regretting their decision to loan talented youngster Mikey Moore to Cologne instead of using him.

"Tel has been anonymous all season," Wenham said. "I'm watching Mikey Moore out on loan, come on and grab an assist for Cologne and be heavily involved, playing as a sort of free reign number 10, and we're continuing with Tel.

"I just don't see the preference of Tel over Mikey. Tel has had so many chances to establish himself, and I think long term, the fact that Wilson Odobert now counts as homegrown as well, just means that he will be prioritised over Tell when he is back fit.

"I don't see Tel having a really long-term future at Tottenham. I could see him going as early as the January transfer window, once Mohammed Kudus is back up and flying.

"And if we've got Dejan Kulusevski coming back, Odobert coming back, and James Maddison coming back, I just don't see that many minutes for Tel moving forward.

"I remember even this summer there was a lot of interest from Paris FC and then Galatasaray, plus some other clubs. He's one that we will easily be able to recover most of the £30m we paid to sign him on."

What do we know about Galatasaray's interest in Tel?

Galatasaray were indeed linked with Tel late on in the summer transfer window.

It was reported by Turkish outlet Fanatik that Gala went as far as tabling an offer for the winger.

It is not known how much the Super Lig side were willing to pay for Tel, but Spurs rejected the offer anyway.

However, it may well be that stance changes should another bid be forthcoming in January.
