Roberto De Zerbi was strongly backed in the summer window, with significant transfer funds being spent.
Spurs chiefs are clearly determined to see their relegation battle of last season not repeated again in 2026-27.
However, a slow start to the new campaign isn't doing much to alleviate fears of a repeat in that regard.
But with a host of new arrivals and some key departures, it could take time for De Zerbi to glue this new-look Lilywhites side together.

Andy Robertson has Tottenham signing of the summer potential
Starting from the back and working our way up the pitch, Tottenham made one new signing between the sticks this summer.
Martin Dubravka joined on a free from Burnley, arriving as cover to allow Guglielmo Vicario to depart for Juventus.
He's a highly experienced goalkeeper at Premier League level, and should be a quality number two option this season. Eight.
Tosin Adarabioyo arrived as a late deadline day arrival in an extremely rare Chelsea-Tottenham transfer trade.
The 28-year-old has proven himself to be a good player at Premier League level, but may struggle to carve out a key role under De Zerbi. Six.
Jan Paul van Hecke signed in a £52million move from Brighton, and has already started his Tottenham career in strong fashion.
He looks to have cornerstone potential in North London, and should be a big part of Spurs' defence for many years. Nine.
Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson both joined on free transfers from Bournemouth and Liverpool.
The former is still carving out his role in De Zerbi's side after being benched against Newcastle, but should have a big part to play. Eight.
Meanwhile, Robertson is already making the left-back spot his own in N17, and doesn't appear to be a 32-year-old past his best whatsoever. 10.
So, with defence being where Tottenham arguably did their best business, let's move into midfield and attack.
Why Mykhailo Mudryk isn't as bad a signing as many seem to think
Starting in the central midfield area, Spurs made two new headline additions to their engine room: Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
The former joined in a club-record £100m deal, and whilst the Italian is a good player, this does have an air of a transfer in which Tottenham have overspent with.
Would most Premier League followers have Tonali inside the top 10 central midfielders in the division? Probably not, and for that price, you'd want him to be. Five.
Prior to Tonali, Spurs broke their transfer record with the £85m capture of Fernandes from West Ham.
Still just 22, he has the potential to become a true star in the Premier League, and looks to be thriving in De Zerbi's system. Eight.
For £75m, Spurs are taking a big gamble on his potential, but he's already offered an exciting glimpse of that against Charlton. Six.
Omar Marmoush was the other to arrive from the Etihad, joining on an initial loan deal with the obligation to buy for £60m.
This doesn't look like a great deal for Spurs, as the Egyptian only netted 10 Premier League goals in 37 games for Man City, so there's a lot to prove here. Five.
Finally, and arguably the most talked about Tottenham transfer of them all this summer, Mykhailo Mudryk.
The 25-year-old is cleared to play once again, but hasn't kicked a competitive football since the 2024-25 season.
Unlike Marmoush, Spurs only have the option to buy the Ukrainian, and so this is a low-risk, high-reward deal.
If he can put it all together in North London, Mudryk has the potential to become one of the best frightening wingers in world football.
Should that not happen, then Spurs can send him back to Chelsea at least having tried, but the potential here is huge. Seven.
