Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven among winners and losers from Tottenham's transfer window so far

Tottenham Hotspur have been working hard in the summer transfer window.

After narrowly avoiding a calamitous relegation from the Premier League, there has been a real focus on avoiding a repeat this time around.

Big money has been spent to bring in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke.

Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka have also arrived on free transfers to add some much-needed experience.

More activity is expected in the coming weeks, particularly to improve the forward areas of Roberto De Zerbi's squad.

But for now, Tottenham News has looked at the winners and losers of Tottenham's transfer window so far.

Winner - Micky van de Ven

There had been some loose chatter that Spurs might look to move Micky van de Ven on this summer given the overload of centre-backs they now have.

But, it is looking increasingly likely that captain Cristian Romero will go instead and that could be good for Van de Ven.

Namely because Romero does have a tendency to be somewhat of a loose cannon at times, and partnering his Netherlands team-mate Van Hecke should bring some calm.

Moreover, under De Zerbi he will play a more progressive form of football, which should suit his style of play.

Winner - Mohammed Kudus

Mohammed Kudus endured an injury-hit campaign last term, which disrupted the early season promise he showed.

Hopefully the Ghana ace can have an undisrupted campaign, because he is someone who could make a big difference in forward areas.

Moreover, with the added creativity of Tonali and Fernandes added to the ranks, he could really flourish from the service they provice.

Big things will be expected of Kudus, but he could end up being a big winner from Spurs' transfer window.

Loser - Cristian Romero

Objectively speaking, we suppose this depends on what outcome Romero is looking for.

Tottenham News has covered reports that Inter Milan are leading the race to sign Romero from Tottenham.

So, he might view himself as a winner as gets a move away from the North London Stadium.

In truth, it's probably not the worst thing that he is sold this summer, and a clean break feels a good move for all parties.

The arrivals of Van Hecke and Senesi means there is now even more competition at centre-back, and Romero looks like he'll be the one to lose out in this scenario.

Loser - Archie Gray

Archie Gray captained a youthful-looking Tottenham side to victory over Auckland FC on Saturday.

But, the arrivals of Tonali and Fernandes to a stacked midfield means that he could struggle for regular game time in the centre of the park.

That means he could end up either being a bit-part player in midfield or used as back-up to Pedro Porro at full-back.

Neither scenario sounds great for a player who is held in high regard for the effort and workrate he puts in.

Hopefully De Zerbi can find a way to keep him involved, because his talent is undeniable.
