Cast your mind back to 2021 as the Argentine sealed a move to North London from Atalanta.
He was coming of the back of a season on loan with the Serie A outfit, before signing permanently and then immediately departing for Spurs.
Romero joined the Lilywhites on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
Tottenham obviously went on to spend £46.7m on the defender and four years after his permanent move was sealed, he could replicate a very similar deal with Inter Milan.
It would be very ironic for the exact same sort of deal to be utilised as a move now looks increasingly likely.
