Tottenham transfer approach up in the air
The board’s summer budget is currently frozen until Premier League safety is mathematically secured, with Igor Tudor sacked and Roberto De Zerbi appointed in the hope of a much-needed revival.
- Scenario A: Premier League Survival. The priority remains elite-level reinforcements. Tottenham are said to be keeping a close eye on James Trafford as a replacement for Guglielmo Vicario. Additionally, the long-term pursuit of Kevin Schade (Brentford) is ongoing, with a £45million bid expected if the club stays up.
- Scenario B: Championship Relegation. An immediate fire sale is anticipated. High-earners like Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani (whose loan expires in 2026) will be offloaded. The club would pivot toward ‘EFL-ready’ prospects, potentially utilising the return of Luka Vuskovic from his Hamburg loan to lead the backline.
James Trafford and other transfer links must be put on hold
Manchester City back-up keeper James Trafford would be a smart addition for Tottenham, of that there is no doubt. Finding a solid number one has proved to be a far tougher task than anticipated for the Lilywhites in recent times.
However, any talk of incoming – or indeed outgoing – activity can be forgotten about until the summer. At that point, Spurs will know one way or another what division they will be competing in in 2026-27.
De Zerbi’s mission is a simple one: keep Tottenham in the Premier League and then begin to build for a brighter future.
