Cristian Romero is looking likely to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and supporters will be quick to forget his name with Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi edging closer to a move to Spurs.

The Lilywhites are now said to be in advanced talks to sign Senesi, who is out of contract with the Cherries this summer.

Tottenham have had the 28-year-old high up on their transfer list in the past couple of months, and an agreement will depend on their ability to avoid Premier League relegation.

Nothing has been finalised, as per David Ornstein, this Friday, and other top-flight clubs have interest in the Argentine.

Tottenham are leading the race to sign Senesi, and it all but confirms that Romero will be on his way out of North London shortly.

It goes without saying, but Spurs have had an awful season, but things could look much brighter next term, if Premier League security is confirmed.

Part of the reason for Tottenham’s struggles has been Romero’s stupidity and recklessness both on and off the field.

Romero is said to have multiple clubs interested in his signature, and it’s already been announced that he will likely leave Hotspur Way this summer.

However, considering that Tottenham could be signing a better defender in Senesi, they will benefit for multiple reasons.

A major bonus would be that Romero could be sold for big money, while Tottenham could get an improvement for free.

The now-injured Spurs defender is headed for a sour exit from N17, and fans will be quick to move on if Senesi joins.

The club weren’t lying when they said that Roberto De Zerbi is here for the long-term, as they are nearing a first signing for the Italian.

Though it may entirely depend on their Premier League status, Senesi would be a perfect fit for the former Brighton boss’s system.

De Zerbi values defenders who can invite pressure while being able to play short incisive passes to break forward and midfield lines.

Lewis Dunk was a good example of this for Brighton, who had big shouts for an England call-up when under the management of De Zerbi.

Senesi could be the same, but it may come down to Premier League survival.
