Ben Davies gets chance to prove worth all over again amid Tottenham contract uncertainty
Ben Davies is set to return to the field on Tuesday night amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding his Tottenham Hotspur future.
The 33-year-old played just five times for Tottenham last season, and not at all after mid-January due to injury.
Davies therefore did not feature at all under Igor Tudor or Roberto De Zerbi as Tottenham narrowly avoided Premier League relegation.
He is due to be out of contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next month, with no indication from the North London club as to whether he will be offered fresh terms.
But it may well be that out-of-contract Davies gets a chance to prove himself once again when he represents Wales this week.

Ben Davies set to feature for Wales
Davies was good value for his new contract with Spurs last summer, which tied him down for a further 12 months.
Having made over 350 appearances for the Lilywhites, he has provided an experienced head not just on the field but also off it.

Andy Robertson looks set to join Tottenham this summer following his Liverpool exit, but that is not to say there is not a place in the squad for Davies.
After more than four months on the sidelines, the defender was named as part of Wales’ squad for their friendlies with Ghana and Romania.
Davies was involved in training at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday ahead of the following day’s clash with Ghana.
It was reported by Geraint Hughes on Sky Sports News that Davies is in with a shot of playing a part.

If that is the case, De Zerbi should have his television on to see exactly how the former Swansea City ace gets on.
Because while Davies deserved a new deal last year, Tottenham can’t let sentimentality get in the way this time around.
What can Davies still bring to Tottenham?
Experience is one thing – and that is something De Zerbi could do with, especially with Davies appearing to be a future coach in the making.
Davies may not have played near as much as he would have liked last season, but his stats stand out against the best of them across those limited minutes.
He registered 1.7 tackles per game in the Premier League this past season, which only four other Tottenham players could better.

Davies’ 2.7 clearances per game, meanwhile, was the sixth best of any Tottenham player, and his 0.7 crosses was the fourth highest.
In January’s 1-1 league draw with Sunderland – the last time he played more than an hour in a game – Davies was Tottenham’s second-highest ranked player on the day.
As per Sofascore, Davies had an 85 per cent pass accuracy and led the way for clearances, with five to his name.
His injury issues will have a big say in any new deal, of course, but if Davies can show what he is capable of for Wales this week, there is no reason why he cannot stay on for another year.
