Levy set for rare transfer triumph ‘as Tottenham make late swoop’ for £26m gem
Daniel Levy could be set for a rare triumph at Tottenham in the winter transfer window as a late swoop has been made for a centre-back.
Defence has been a concern for the Spurs faithful due to the multiple injuries, and the position evidently requires reinforcements before the 3 February deadline.
The North London outfit’s chairman hasn’t had the best of windows this time around, with multiple players rejecting a move to N17.
Bayern Munich centre-forward Mathys Tel rebuffed an approach from the Lilywhites [David Ornstein, 31 January], while they faced similar issues in convincing Fikayo Tomori [Sky Sports News, 1 February].
But the supporters could finally see Levy pull off a deal in the coming hours as they try to hijack their Premier League rivals.
Tottenham make late move for Kevin Danso transfer
Spurs have made a late move to sign Lens defender Kevin Danso before the 3 February deadline, according to Mike McGrath.
The Daily Telegraph journalist shared on his personal X account (1 February) that the North Londoners are looking to get the 26-year-old after he looked close to joining Wolves.
If the reports are true, it remains to be seen how much Tottenham will spend on the Austrian centre-back, with the French outfit demanding £26million for him [Daily Mail, 29 January].
Danso has been one of the best defenders in Ligue 1 over the last few years, helping his side to a second-place finish behind Paris Saint-Germain in the 2022/23 season.

The 26-year-old has once again been a pivotal player for Lens in the current campaign, keeping five clean sheets in 12 league appearances.
While Levy won’t be able to live down the embarrassment of the current transfer window, the Spurs chairman has a chance to get one thing right by adding a quality player like the Austrian.
In other Tottenham news, two transfers could be sealed in N17 by deadline day.
