Why Hoffenheim could be as good as it gets for Mikey Moore at Tottenham
Mikey Moore bagged a brace as Tottenham Hotspur faced Hoffenheim on Saturday.
The Englishman featured once again under Roberto De Zerbi as he looks to make his presence felt in N17.
There is plenty of excitement surrounding his place in the squad after a terrific season at Rangers last time around.
The Scottish FA Young Player of the Year has proven his worth in senior football, but may still not be seen as good enough in N17.
He is working to change that and did exactly that with two goals against the Bundesliga outfit.
The problem is that a brace in pre-season might just be as good as it gets for Moore at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
How did Mikey Moore perform vs Hoffenheim?
The N17 outfit signed off their summer preparations in the best way possible.
A 3-0 win against the Germans was superb and nothing less than they deserved on the day.
Richarlison got on the scoresheet before Moore bagged his brace to seal a 3-0 win.
The 19-year-old took the most shots on the pitch with three, while echoing that number with his successful dribble tally.
He was also fouled twice and took five touches in the opposition penalty area.
That, tied in with his goals, is proof of a positive performance, but it isn't a guarantee of anything moving into the Premier League season.
Why Moore will struggle at Tottenham this season
Scoring two against Hoffenheim may well be as good as things get for Moore this season, or in general.
De Zerbi has to have high standards this campaign and throwing a 19-year-old in at the deep end may not be high on his agenda.
That is especially with him losing five ground duels, putting up just one defensive action while also failing to complete a single cross against Hoffenheim.
There are soon to be so many senior options ahead of him, which doesn't bode well.
As soon as Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert and Dejan Kulusevski are available, they will likely leapfrog Moore in the pecking order.
For a young player with so much potential, he deserves better.
That is exactly why his goals against Hoffenheim may be the ultimate peak of his Spurs career, even if supporters may not like hearing that.
