Tottenham player ratings vs Nottingham Forest: Savio dazzles as 3/10 teammate has a stinker
Tottenham Hotspur played out a 0-0 draw away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
The point at the City ground is Spurs' first of the Premier League season, but they remain winless after three matches and without a goal.
Spurs made three changes from last week's loss to Newcastle United, with Savio handed a first league start for the Lilywhites.
Destiny Udogie and Conor Gallagher also came in, with Archie Gray, Andy Robertson and Mateus Fernandes dropping out.
Forest went closest to finding a winner as Neco Williams had the ball in the net, but VAR intervened and adjudged he handled it beforehand.
Tottenham News rates every Spurs player out of 10 at the City Ground.
How did Savio perform on Tottenham league debut?
Savio starred in Tottenham's Carabao Cup win over Charlton Athletic and looked good once again against Forest.
The one downside is the winger did not register a goal or assist, but his all-round display was encouraging.
Savio completed 14 of his 18 passes in his hour on the field for a 78 per cent accuracy rate.
More than that, though, he attempted eight take-ons - double any of his teammates in his time on the pitch - and was successful with half of those.
The Brazil international's only shot was blocked, but it was still a good display and he looked the most likely to make something happen.
There was nobody better on the pitch from Spurs' perspective, so the sooner he builds up his fitness to play a full 90, the better.
Mathys Tel a real let down
If Savio was a threat down one flank, teammate Mathys Tel was poor down the other.
He attempted five dribbles but was successful from just one of those.
Tel also had an expected goals (xG) return of zero, which is pretty telling of what he offered - or didn't offer.
Rather pathetically, he also won just two of his 10 attempted duels before being taken off around 15 minutes from time.
You have to wonder if Roberto De Zerbi has seen enough and opts to go with something different against Everton next week.
