Roberto De Zerbi will love one aspect Mikey Moore showed in Tottenham pre-season win vs Auckland

Mikey Moore has the chance to stake his claim for a spot in Tottenham Hotspur's first team during pre-season.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a fine loan spell at Rangers last season, winning the Scottish Premier League's Young Player of the Season.

The teenage winger scored seven goals and contributed three assists in 33 Scottish Premiership appearances during his time with the Gers.

However, Moore has given a chance to show his talent to Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi during pre-season.

Indeed, he was involved as Spurs defeated Auckland 2-0 during their stint in New Zealand, with Dane Scarlett and Richarlison on target.

And there was one aspect from Moore that De Zerbi will have been particularly impressed with.

How did Mikey Moore do for Tottenham against Auckland?

Earlier this month, Tottenham News covered how Moore posted footage of himself preparing for Tottenham's pre-season.

The youngster has been working hard to show his potential, and was a starter for Spurs in their victory against Auckland.

Moore put in a decent account of himself, making two key passes in the game, and attempting two crosses - one of which was successful.

He had a pass success accuracy of 84 per cent, completing 16 of 19, with 12 of the 15 attempted in the opposition half successful (80 per cent).

All four of the ones he made in his own half found a team-mate, and both of his long passes were accurate as well.

Moore had 16 carries in the game, was successful with one of his two dribbles and had a total carrying distance of 111.8 metres.

But outside of the key metrics, it was the maturity Moore showed that De Zerbi will really love.

Spurs had to mix first-team regulars with younger talent, with a natural need to protect their starters.

Moore acquitted himself well in that regard, and was an older head on young shoulders, which is an impressive trait.

What did Roberto De Zerbi say about Mikey Moore?

Moore's own future remains a little unclear at the moment.

He will likely get more minutes in pre-season, and have further opportunities to impress De Zerbi.

But the Italian was asked if Moore will be used this season, and was sort of non-committal about the answer.

In quotes reported by Football London, De Zerbi said: "We have to see.

"We have to analyse the last part of the transfer market, because we try to bring wingers, and then we speak with him, with his agent, with the club, to find the best solution for everyone."

De Zerbi is looking for further reinforcements in the transfer market, but Moore will hope to continue showing his worth in the coming weeks.
