Jamie Carragher does not expect Tottenham Hotspur to push on when they face Chelsea this weekend.

Roberto De Zerbi's men finally earned their first Premier League win of the season at the seventh attempt on Monday night.

That 2-1 win came over fellow early-season strugglers Coventry City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but only once since the start of last season have Spurs won back-to-back games.

A point would be considered a good result on the face of it on Saturday evening against a Chelsea side sitting seven points better off in fourth.

Chelsea are themselves looking to win three top-flight matches on the spin for the first time since between January and February this year.

That is something Carragher can see happening as he offered his score prediction.

The unwanted first Tottenham could suffer vs Chelsea

De Zerbi will know the importance of his side pushing on, even if Tottenham were not exactly perfect against Coventry.

But providing his prediction for Sky Sports' Super 6, Carragher opted for a 2-0 Chelsea win.

If that happens, it will be the first time in Tottenham's history they have lost seven London derbies in a row in the league.

Chelsea have won six in a row against Spurs home and away, meanwhile, most recently coming out on top 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in May.

You have to go back to February 2023 for the last time Tottenham beat Chelsea, with that a 2-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham's dismal Stamford Bridge record in numbers

This is not exactly an ideal fixture for De Zerbi, then, as he looks to drag the Lilywhites away from the bottom three.

Tottenham have won just one of their past 36 league visits to Stamford Bridge - a 3-1 win under Mauricio Pochettino in 2017-18.

Spurs have picked up only two points from a possible 24 at Stamford Bridge since then.

Chelsea have lost only one of their past 16 London derbies in the Premier League, meanwhile, so the omens are certainly a lot better for the hosts than they are for the visiting side this weekend.
