Why Tottenham are still at threat of losing Lucas Bergvall as negotiations held
Lucas Bergvall's Tottenham Hotspur future is still shrouded in doubt this summer.
Spurs went on a big recruitment drive early in the transfer window, with £237million shelled out.
A large chunk of that went on bringing in midfield reinforcement in the form of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Consequently, it was reported that 20-year-old Sweden international Bergvall was contemplating his future at the club.
Roberto De Zerbi has previously spoken on the situation, stating that if any player wants to depart he has to be open about it but he remained hopeful Bergvall would stay.
Bergvall has been a regular feature of Spurs' pre-season so far, but there is still a threat he could move on this window.

Spurs beat off big competition when they signed Bergvall as a prodigious teenager from Djurgarden back in February 2024.
Indeed, it was reported that LaLiga giants Barcelona were among the interested suitors for Bergvall at that time.
It would be a disappointment if Bergvall did decided to depart, but there has been interest from elsewhere in the Premier League - with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United among those to show interest.
Indeed, according to prominent French journalist Sebastien Vidal - who has over 28,000 X followers - Newcastle are in still in the hunt.
Vidal posted on X to say that Newcastle are still interested in signing Bergvall during the transfer window.
However, he did add that negotiations are proving difficult for the Magpies.
It does, though, point to the fact that Tottenham are still facing a battle to keep hold of the young midfielder before the 1 September deadline.
Who else would leave Tottenham this summer?
Bergvall is certainly not the only player being linked with the Tottenham exit door this summer.
England full-back Djed Spence is in a similar boat to Bergvall insofar as De Zerbi would like him as part of the squad, but it feels difficult to guarantee him a starting berth.
Serie A giants Inter are being heavily linked with a move for the versatile full-back, who is said to be tempted by the move.
Guglielmo Vicario could also be on his way back to Italy, with Antonin Kinsky likely to start the campaign as first-choice goalkeeper.
Richarlison's future always feels like it is in doubt, too, and if Spurs could land another striker this summer you sense the Brazil international may be allowed to leave.
