Tottenham set likely fee for Luka Vuskovic exit, 'it might not be Brighton'
Tottenham look increasingly likely to cash in on one of their top assets in Luka Vuskovic.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who also believes the same could be true for teammate Lucas Bergvall.
Tottenham have already splashed out £52million on Jan Paul van Hecke this summer and are about to spend a further £85m on Mateus Fernandes.
Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have also arrived as free agents, while Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali remains a target for Spurs.
While Tottenham's spending does not look done yet, players will have to move on to help balance the books.
And while fans may not like it, Vuskovic seems primed for an exit in the coming weeks.
Tottenham may be unable to say no to Luka Vuskovic offer
Spurs have already rejected three Brighton bids for Vuskovic, the latest believed to be in the region of £45m.
Brighton are believed to still retain an interest, but it is unclear whether they will come in with an improved off.
In the view of Wenham, it will take a bid double what Brighton first offered to land Vuskovic, although it may well be that another team comes in for him.
"I think Vuskovic will be seen as a highly sellable asset, which is the same for Bergvall," Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“He might go. I think the fact that we've signed Van Hecke and Senesi in this window tells Vuskovic that the door isn't open for him at Tottenham as yet.
“It's a shame because I think he's an outstanding young prospect. I can just see somebody coming in. It may not end up being Brighton.
“We've turned down three bids from Brighton - £30m, £35m and £45m - and I think Spurs look at about £60m as the asking price for him.”
One thing does seem clear, though, when it comes to what is next for Vuskovic.
Tottenham can't repeat previous Vuskovic trick
Vuskovic thrived out on loan at Hamburg, with Spurs seeing his value skyrocket without even kicking a ball for them.
There was previously talk of the centre-back going out on loan again, but that is just not viable.
Tottenham should either integrate the youngster into their first team this coming season or get him off the books for good.
Vuskovic has already proved himself, hence Brighton being desperate to sign him, and a loan move suits nobody.
If £60m is indeed tabled, whether by Brighton or another team, that is a fee Spurs cannot realistically reject for a player yet to test himself in the Premier League.
It would be a shame to see Vuskovic depart, and Spurs will simply hope they do not live to regret the decision down the line.
