Tottenham respond as eleventh-hour approaches made for Archie Gray

Archie Gray has been the subject of late transfer window interest at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old has started in all three of Spurs' competitive games this season, and was named part of Roberto De Zerbi's leadership group.

However, Tottenham do have plenty of central midfield options at their disposal thanks to the summer arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Indeed, Gray has started the season at right-back, initially deputising in the absence of Pedro Porro, and retaining that spot when the Spaniard was used further forward against Newcastle United.

It looks like teams have no tried their luck to try and convince Tottenham to let him go in the last hours of the window, and Spurs have responded.

How have Tottenham responded to Archie Gray approaches?

Spurs signed Gray as a prodigious teenager from Leeds United in July 2024 in a deal worth around £30million.

Gray is a popular figure with Spurs' fanbase for the attitude he has displayed on the pitch during a couple of difficult campaigns.

And it seems that the Lilywhites have zero intention of letting Gray depart during the closing hours of the transfer window.

Football London reporter Alasdair Gold reports that a "number" of clubs have enquired about Gray's availability.

However, Spurs have responded with a "firm" not for sale reponse, while a loan move is not expected to happen bar a late change of heart.

Plenty of other business is still expected to happen in the closing hours of the window, though.

What's the latest with Tottenham on deadline day?

Spurs have been active right throughout the window, and will continue to be so on the final day.

Kevin Danso is undergoing a medical at Sunderland, ahead of a loan with an obligation-to-buy deal.

Pape Matar Sarr is also on his way out, with Serie A side Juventus his destination.

Spurs are closing in on two signings from Chelsea, though, with Mykhailo Mudryk joining on loan with a purchase option of £75million.

Blues centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo is also set to come in as a replacement for Danso on a permanent deal.
