Tottenham in advanced talks over Souza deal as personal terms agreed for permanent exit
Tottenham Hotspur left-back Souza could already be on his way out just months after joining.
The Brazilian joined Spurs from Santos back in January in a deal worth €15million (£12.8million) with Thomas Frank still at the helm.
However, life in N17 has not been smooth for the the South American ever since.
Tottenham have since signed Andrew Robertson with Djed Spence flying high at the World Cup with England. Additionally, Destiny Udogie remains at Spurs.
His pathway into the squad has been made quite difficult and it seems that a move away could be deemed as the best solution for all involved.
With reports now detailing that a European club are in advanced discussions for his signing.
Who is looking to sign Tottenham's Souza?
Tottenham could make a profit on Souza this summer.
According to GE Globo, Porto are now in advanced talks with Tottenham over a deal to sign the left-back.
Now, the Portuguese side are moving ahead to try and secure the signature of 20-year-old.
At the time, it was stated that Souza could depart on loan and now it looks like a permanent sale is on the cards.
The 31-time Portuguese league champions have tabled a €20m (£17.1m) bid according to the aforementioned report, with Benfica said to have offered the same.
Additionally, the defenders agent is currently in Portugal as he looks to negotiate the terms of the transfer, with Porto leading the race.
And personal terms will not be an obstacle as they have already been agreed between Porto and the Brazilian.
Why Tottenham won't get full price for Souza
While Tottenham would bank a profit on the sale of Souza for the price mentioned above, they will not get all of that money.
That is because it has also been said that Santos retain a 10 per cent sell on clause for their former left-back.
So, if Souza is sold for the £17.1m tag mooted, the Lilywhites could expect to receive around £15.4m of that total, with Santos getting £1.7m.
Overall though, securing a £2.6m profit on a player who barely featured for the Premier League side, and after just a few months is not a terrible outcome.
