Tottenham expert: Destiny Udogie has proven why he's linked with record transfer
Destiny Udogie caught the eye as Tottenham Hotspur secured a draw against Manchester United.
Spurs may not have won, but the performance was certainly much-improved under Roberto De Zerbi.
That was showcased in the number of chances created by the away side at Old Trafford.
Dominic Solanke was the only one to take a chance as his late header sealed a point.
There were various top individual showings and Udogie was certainly one of those.
The Italian has struggled with injury, but proved against Man United that he could be worth a sizable amount.
How much could Tottenham sell Destiny Udogie for?
There is no doubt that the 23-year-old was once up there with the best full-backs in the Premier League.
When he returned from Udinese, he looked like taking the whole of English football by storm.
Injury problems have hampered his efforts and have limited him.
The Italian may have now turned a corner as his performance against Man United looked to be back to his best.
That was the verdict of Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham who believes Udogie looked to be back to the player who was once linked with big moves away.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: "I'm delighted to see him back at that level, but it's sad to see that we only get that once in 10 games was Destiny Udogie.
"He was absolutely outstanding, it was like the season one version of him that we first had, where he's powerful, he wins his duels, he bombs up and down, he's a constant menace, taking over the left winger.
"It's sad, because the first season we had Udogie, he was like probably the best left back in the Premier League, and that's why he was linked with Man City for £60-80 million.
"It's frustrating, but I saw him and I thought, 'wow, if he could just stay fit and contribute to us, he'd make such a bloody difference'."
Should he continue at that level, where could he sit among the most expensive players in the world?
How Udogie could become transfer record holder
Transfer fees have certainly become increasingly bigger year on year.
That is summed up by Spurs paying such major prices for Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Savio over the summer.
It could soon go the other way should Udogie sell at the top end of Wenham's price range.
That would make him the most expensive left-back of all time.
Lucas Hernandez currently tops the charts after his £68million move to Bayern Munich in 2019.
Marc Cucarella sits second at £60m after his move from Brighton to Chelsea.
Should the Spurs defender move for close to £80m, he would become the new record holder by quite a difference.
It is now down to Udogie to prove he's worth that much, something which will only be possible if he can stay fit.
