Three players who could leave Tottenham Hotspur next as talks progress for another exit
Tottenham Hotspur have had a seriously busy summer as they reshape Roberto De Zerbi's squad.
Spurs escaped an embarrassing relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, needing a last-day win over Everton to ensure survival.
Quite frankly, such a scenario cannot be allowed to happen again this term, and big money has been spent on the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke.
But Tottenham have also been busy moving players out this summer to recoup some of the outlay, and make room for new additions.
Luka Vuskovic, Will Lankshear, Radu Dragusin, and Alfie Devine have all departed this summer, while Yves Bissouma's contract was not renewed after it expired.
Another player exit looks to be on the cards, so Tottenham News has looked at three players who could be on the chopping board.
Ashley Phillips
Tottenham activated a £2million release clause to sign centre-back Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers back in August 2023.
However, since then has spent time on loan with Plymouth Argyle, and twice with Stoke City.
With Spurs having strengthened their backline with the additions of Van Hecke and the free transfer of Marcos Senesi, his prospects look even more bleak.
Indeed, Tottenham News has covered reports that Middlesbrough want to sign Spurs centre-back Phillips.
Indeed, it has now been suggested that talks are progressing with Boro over a permanent deal, with Phillips said to be valued around £12million.
Boro have already sign Lankshear, in a deal worth initial £10m that could eventually be worth £20m, so the clubs clearly have a decent relationship.
Lucas Bergvall
Tottenham beat off big competition from the likes of Barcelona to sign Lucas Bergvall back in February 2024.
There was big hope that he could develop into a world-class talent at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But now, the Sweden international is keen to depart this summer as he feels his first-team opportunities are about to be restricted.
Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United have been prominently linked, and are said to be still interested in striking a deal.
Brighton, who signed Vuskovic, are also apparently willing to pay Spurs' £60m price tag, which could see them win the race for the 20-year-old.
Richarlison
Not many Tottenham players covered themselves in glory last season, though Richarlison was one of the few to come out with some credit.
But there is a growing sense that Roberto De Zerbi wants to bolster this options in the final third.
As such, Brazil international Richarlison could find himself on the chopping block in the remainder of the summer.
Indeed, both Juventus and Fenerbahce are said to be tracking the 29-year-old, and this might be Spurs' last opportunity to get a decent sale price.
