Sandro Tonali to Tottenham state of play: Latest bid, contract details and possible Arsenal influence
Tottenham Hotspur have a strong interest in signing Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United this summer.
The Lilywhites have made it clear that strengthening their midfield options is a priority this summer, having been linked with Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Newcastle's Italian midfielder has already been the subject of a rejected by from the North Londoners, while unverified claims over the past week have suggested that an agreement has already been reached with Fernandes.
But despite having suffered rejection in their first approach for Tonali, Tottenham remain keen on a deal.
Another bid has since been launched and responded to by the Magpies.
Howerver, Arsenal's interest in one of their other stars could prove to be a block in Spurs' pursuit of the Italian.
What was Tottenham's latest bid for Sandro Tonali?
Their first offer, which was reported to be in the region of £80million, was swiftly rejected by Newcastle.
As per Craig Hope, Tottenham then returned with a second offer for the midfielder, albeit without actually offering anymore money.
Unsurprisingly, that was also rejected.
Tonali has, however, expressed a desire to make the move to North London, with it claimed that he could sign a contract worth over £275,000 per week.
He's keen to work with Roberto De Zerbi, as per Sky Sports, though the chances of that happening remain dependent on Tottenham agreeing a fee with the North East outfit.
How Arsenal could impact Tottenham's pursuit of Tonali
Newcastle have already lost Anthony Gordon this summer, and they will not be overly fond of the idea of losing another key player.
And even less fond of the idea of losing another two.
While Tonali has reportedly expressed his interest in moving to Tottenham, Arsenal are claimed to be interested in his midfield counterpart, Bruno Guimaraes, via Hope once again.
Word from Newcastle is that they will not entertain any offers for the Brazillian, which could be a potential boost for Tottenham.
Though the same thing was said about Alexander Isak before his record-breaking transfer to Liverpool last summer.
