Richarlison's expected £15m+ Tottenham exit raises eyebrows, 'I thought it'd be to MLS'

Richarlison looked destined to leave Tottenham for Major League Soccer.

That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, who was reacting to Juventus' interest in the 29-year-old.

The Brazilian joined the Lilywhites in 2022 but he has been unable to stay fit, and the sides are expected to part ways.

Tottenham News has regularly covered Richarlison's future or lack of one in North London.

The striker has just one year left on his contract and Roberto De Zerbi could choose to cash in before he leaves for nothing.

Now, Juventus has complicated things, as they have given the former Everton man a new exit route.

Wenham believes that the forward will depart this summer in a £15-20million deal, but though it would be to the MLS.

That is consistent with reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy that claim that the Bianconeri want him, and Spurs would entertain a fee between £17-21m.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "Tottenham aren't going to offer him a new deal.

"I thought he'd go to MLS and it would be announced in dollars and it would seem like a bigger fee than it actually was when he converted it to pounds.

"He will go for about £15-20 million maximum. It's the contractual situation, the wages he probably wants. I think that's the sort of fee he'll go for and I expect he will go.

"It'll be the fourth year in a row we're selling our top goalscorer, but in reality he needs to move on and Tottenham have actively tried to sell him for the last two or three windows.

"I think it's a reasonable and fair fee for someone of his ability."

Why a Richarlison exit makes sense for everyone

A departure for the 54-cap international makes sense for all parties, it is as simple as that.

He has not hit the heights since his £60m move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with 32 goals in 133 matches for the club.

It has just not worked out, and both sides would benefit from a fresh start.

De Zerbi's side will not care about the destination, just that they get the most money possible, and £20m represents a brilliant deal.
