Manor Solomon row takes fresh twist as Tottenham told what could finally end transfer saga
Shakhtar Donetsk should move on from demanding anything from Tottenham for Manor Solomon.
That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, who was reacting to the latest row over the winger.
Shakhtar Donetsk chief executive Sergei Palkin is looking for a financial settlement with the Lilywhites, after holding talks after Solomon's sale.
In an ideal world, he wants an amicable solution, but he has hinted that he could go to the European Club Association or the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The N17 club were able to sign Solomon for free in 2023 after FIFA ruled that players in Ukraine could cancel their contracts.
He left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to join West Ham this summer in an £5million deal, which has sparked talk over compensation.
Why should Tottenham not give in to Shakhtar's demands for Manor Solomon money?
Wenham, who runs the Lilywhite Rose accounts, has hit out and believes that Spurs owe Shakhtar nothing, after they previously played a friendly and gave them half the receipts.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "I don't really know how much more he expects us to do.
"He was sold to West Ham for about £5 million, he's probably looking for Tottenham just to pay him £1m as a full and final settlement and just move on from it.
"At the end of the day, he was signed on a free upon FIFA's own rulings that players from Shakhtar were able to move.
"I don't really see that going any further; it just seems like this guy won't stop going on about it, we already played a friendly and let them keep 50 per cent of the revenue."
Why Tottenham paying for Solomon would be a waste
If Tottenham have to pay anything for Solomon, they may well consider it a waste of money
He played six competitive matches for them, with two assists and no goals to his name.
The Israel international spent time with Leeds, Villarreal and Fiorentina on loan after he was deemed surplus to requirements in North London.
Ultimately, nabbing him on a free transfer did not work out for the Lilywhites and now they could be left paying more than they should for him, if Palkin gets his way.
Would £1m end this for good? Time may well tell.
