Lucas Bergvall now faces Tottenham exit in bid to unlock Chelsea blockbuster deal on deadline day

Chelsea have shortlisted Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall as a possible signing.

The biggest story of deadline day so far is Enzo Fernandez' proposed £100million-plus move to Manchester City.

However, in order for the Stamford Bridge outfit to allow the mega money move go through, they do need to find a replacement.

And that is where Bergvall has now come into the equation.

Bergvall has previously asked to leave Tottenham, with the Swede having concerns over his game time, and Chelsea could offer him that exit route.

What has been said about Lucas Bergvall to Chelsea?

Chelsea are looking deep into the market for a midfielder, and haven't found much success so far.

The Blues, though, could look closer to home with two midfielders in North London on their agenda.

According to journalist, Ben Jacobs, appearing on talkSPORT, Chelsea have added Arsenal's Martin Zubimendi and Tottenham's Bergvall to their shortlist.

Speaking at 11.56 AM on deadline day, Jacobs said that a move for either player could then help unlock Fernandez' move to Manchester City.

Out of the two, Jacobs said: "Bergvall is the easiest to do and Chelsea have historical interest."

There is yet to be a bid for Bergvall, but as the London-side get desperate, that approach could arrive later in the day.

It is one to keep an eye on at the moment.

Can Tottenham afford to let Bergvall leave?

Tottenham and Chelsea have been in talks quite frequently as of late.

Roberto De Zerbi is set to sign Tosin Adarabioyo and Mykhailo Mudryk from Chelsea, showcasing their is a current working relationship between the clubs.

But when it comes to the Italian's squad, there are eight midfielders within their ranks, discounting Bergvall, and the outbound Pape Matar Sarr.

So, Tottenham are bloated in that department and could afford to reduce their numbers.

However, Spurs would be running a risk of sending a talented midfielder like Bergvall to a rival such as Chelsea, which must also come under consideration.
