Jan Paul van Hecke: £40m Tottenham differential to be laughed off after Luka Vuskovic bid
Jan Paul van Hecke is a defensive transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur this summer, though Brighton are holding out for a fee upwards of £70million.
Spurs simply have to get their recruitment right this summer if they are to avoid a third successive relegation battle under Roberto De Zerbi.
Amid links to Van Hecke, it certainly seems as though they are looking in the right areas to bolster their squad, given his proven quality and experience in the Premier League throughout his time with Brighton.
Tottenham are willing to pay around £50m to land the Dutchman, though that is believed to still be £20m short of the Seagull's asking price.
That in itself is relatively fair, albeit still overpriced.
However, that stance on the valuation will have changed significantly after Brighton made a bid for Luka Vuskovic.
How much have Brighton offered for Luka Vuskovic?
Hold on to your hat before you read this one. Brighton have offered £30m to sign Vuskovic this summer.
And that is despite the fact that he is just 19 years old, has four years left on his deal, and is coming off the back of a remarkable campaign in Germany in which he scored six goals from centre-back.
His stats saw him rank among some of the best defenders in Europe, and his ability will only grow with age.
For that bid to be £40m below their valuation of Van Hecke is nothing but pure disrespect towards the player and to Tottenham, who will laugh off that bid almost instantly.
Tottenham have clear call to make with Vuskovic
Spurs need to keep their best players, not sell them unless they were to receive a stupendous amount money.
Quite frankly, £30m for Vuskovic, who has the potential to become one of the best centre-backs in the world, is pathetic.
Tottenham should be looking to utilise the Croatian in the Premier League next season, and even more so if Cristian Romero is to depart
The Argentine has been heavily linked with an exit from Spurs in recent months, and Vuskovic would be the perfect replacement.
