Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit to sign Savinho from Manchester City.

The Lilywhites remain in the market for a new winger as the Premier League season looms.

Roberto De Zerbi has splashed the cash this summer, but has further reinforcements in mind.

Wide attackers wouldn't go amiss after plenty of issues in those areas in recent years.

The Brazilian could represent a useful option despite his struggles at the Etihad since his move from Girona.

Savinho is looking to get out of City and could soon be on the move to North London.

Tottenham table bid as Savinho open to transfer

There has been plenty of noise surrounding the 22-year-old since the summer window began.

That isn't truly a surprise after he made just seven Premier League starts last time around.

The Lilywhites have been strongly linked and have now been able to step that up.

That comes after Savinho missed Man City training through alleged "illness", although many believe that is being utilised as a way to force an exit.

Tottenham have reacted to that as Sebastien Vidal reported on Friday that they have now bid around £68million for the Brazilian.

With the winger missing out on training with Enzo Maresca, he is said to be pushing for a Spurs move right now.

There was no agreement between the clubs earlier in the week, but that could change after this latest offer.

Where would Savinho sit in record signings at Tottenham?

In any other year, the winger could have become the record holder for most expensive N17 signing.

Xavi Simons took the record off Dominic Solanke last summer as he joined for upwards of £52m.

That has since been shattered by the signings of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali for £85m and £100m each.

Savinho would therefore come in as the third most expensive addition at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if he were to join for that £68m fee.

That would be yet another sign of intent for De Zerbi and Co. after such a difficult few years.

They are in desperate need of a true winger and the Brazilian would represent exactly that.

Spurs just need to hope he stands up to that fee if he comes in.
