How Jack Wilshere convinced Jamie Donley on loan exit in Tottenham medical reveal

Jack Wilshere is set to work with Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley at Luton Town.

The League One club have won the race for the 21-year-old attacking-midfielder's signature for a season-long loan.

With the Northern Ireland international looking for regular first-team experience, he has decided on Kenilworth Road as his next destination.

Spurs seem to have high hopes for Donley and will now hope he can get adequate game time at Luton.

The young playmaker made a mark in League One with Leyton Orient during the 2024-25 campaign, but his progress has stagnated since.

Now the former Arsenal midfielder is tasked with setting the Northern Irishman back on the right track.

Why Jamie Donley may have turned down move to Championship football

Roberto De Zerbi has been left impressed with Donley during pre-season, but it would be difficult to see him get an opportunity at Tottenham right now.

Luton is expected to be the midfielder's next stop, with John Wenham of the Lilywhite Rose revealing that his medical will take place today.

While multiple Championship clubs wanted the Northern Ireland international, he has decided to move back to League One.

Last season, the youngster was left frustrated after a lack of minutes at Stoke City and Oxford United.

Wilshere seems to have convinced Donley that Kenilworth Road is the best place for him to get consistent opportunities.

Speaking on TikTok, Lilywhite Rose said, "Donley was in talks with multiple Championship clubs and also a club from League One.

"I can now reveal that the club from League One has won the signature for Donley to join on a season-long loan deal. And that club is Luton.

"So Donley will be joining up at Kenilworth Road with Luton, managed by Jack Wilshere. They've managed to convince Jamie that's the best place to continue his development this season and give him those opportunities to play continued football.

"I understand Jamie is to complete his medical with Luton this morning."

Who else could be next out the door at Tottenham

Savio has joined Tottenham from Manchester City, while Omar Marmoush is also being heavily linked with a move to De Zerbi's team.

That would leave Mikey Moore staring at an uncertain future in N17, with game time likely limited.

Dane Scarlette is another youngster who needs to find a suitable club for more first-team action.

Souza is another prospect who could potentially be on his way out of the North London outfit, with competition for a place in the starting lineup increasing after Andy Robertson's arrival.

Wilson Odobert's future may also be worth watching closely as he looks to return after a lengthy injury layoff.
