Everything Richarlison said in video admission as Tottenham exit fails

Richarlison has released a video on social media explaining why a move away from Tottenham Hotspur failed.

The Brazilian has looked to be on his way out now for several weeks.

It had once looked as if he would be going back to Everton as part of a swap deal involving Iliman Ndiaye.

That was certainly something the N17 faithful could get behind, but it ultimately fell through.

The 29-year-old was then left to eye moves elsewhere as a switch to Trabzonspor also failed to materialise.

Richarlison has since looked set to be on his way back to Brazil and has now explained exactly why that isn't happening.

What has Richarlison said about failed Vasco da Gama move?

The forward certainly hasn't held back when it comes to his future this summer.

He has spoken out on social media to reveal his frustration as he felt as if his career wasn't in his own hands.

That didn't go down well with Roberto De Zerbi as an exit became increasingly likely.

A move back to his homeland with Vasco da Gama looked to be on the cards, but has since failed.

Richarlison has now taken to Instagram to speak directly to Vasco fans and reveal why he isn't there right now.

He said: "Hey, Vasco fans. This week has been pretty hectic. I decided to take some time here, you know, to thank the Vasco supporters, Pedrinho and Felipe.

"We came very close to me signing for Vasco, my boyhood club, my family’s boyhood club. It was very close.

"I had made it very clear to Pedrinho and Felipe, from the beginning of our conversation, that I wanted to play for Vasco until December. Other clubs came in, other offers came in, but I made it very clear to Pedrinho and Felipe that they were my priority until December.

"So, this time, it was very close. Unfortunately, Tottenham also had a loan limit, and that’s why it didn’t work out either.

"But that’s it. I wanted to thank you, Vasco fans, who sent me so many messages of affection, asking what time, what day I was going to be at the airport so they could put on a party and come and pick me up.

"But let’s leave that for next time. I believe that soon I’ll be at Sao Januario, I’ll be at the Barreira. And you know how much affection I have for you.

"And one day I will fulfil that dream, which is mine, my grandfather’s, and my family’s. I’m telling you this from the heart because I really wanted to be at Vasco. And that’s it. Thank you very much to all of you, and soon we’ll be there wearing the Vasco shirt.

"I’ve got one here, you know, that I found over there, because there are a lot of them there, right? But this is the one I found from when Pedrinho arrived at Vasco and took charge there.

"He sends me lots of Vasco shirts. Every time there’s a new release, he sends one to me because he knows I’m a Vasco fan. So that’s it, guys. Thanks, big hug to you all. Soon we’ll be there at Sao Januario, at the Barreira, and that’s us. Thanks!"

This all feels quite ill-advised for someone who is still a Tottenham player, but is only made worse by the reaction from N17.

How have Tottenham stars reacted to Richarlison message?

The striker is still employed in North London after failing to agree a move back to South America.

You wouldn't know that based on the way he's talking about Vasco da Gama.

That almost certainly won't help his strained relationship with De Zerbi.

The Italian may look at the video with annoyance, especially as many Spurs players have reacted.

Destiny Udogie, Xavi Simons and Luca Williams-Barnett have all liked the post.

That isn't exactly a great look for any of them.

It will be interesting to see how all this goes down on Hotspur Way in the coming days and weeks.
