Tottenham Hotspur have been extremely busy in the summer transfer window.

Spurs narrowly avoided an embarrassing relegation from the Premier League last season, with Roberto De Zerbi rescuing the situation in the final seven games of the campaign.

To ensure there is no repeat, Tottenham have been active in the window, splurging roughly £230million on Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali.

Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka have also arrived as shrewd free transfers to bolster De Zerbi's ranks.

More business is expected in the next six weeks at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But, as things stand, Tottenham News, has ranked each position from strongest to weakest with what we know about the squad thus far.

Tottenham defenders ranked - 8/10

This may seem quite a generous score for a side who conceded the most goals outside of the relegated teams in the Premier League last season.

But, on paper at least, there is a lot of quality in Spurs' backline, especially with the additions of Senesi and Van Hecke to the equation.

Moreover, once you consider the experience and quality Robertson brings to the table, plus the brilliance of Pedro Porro at right-back, there are good options.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven can be frustratingly inconsistent, but on their day they are among the best centre-backs in the league.

The proof will be in the pudding as to whether Spurs have improved defensively, but the options look good on the surface.

Tottenham midfielders ranked - 8/10

You could easily make an argument that midfield is the strongest area of the team.

Not least because of the outlay spent to bring Fernandes and Tonali to the club already this summer.

Throw in the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr, and Conor Gallagher and there are some excellent options for De Zerbi.

James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski prefer to operate more as attacking midfielders, but if both can stay fit this season they will make a huge difference, too.

Archie Gray is a burgeoning talent, who can also offer cover at right-back, but Lucas Bergvall could be allowed to move on.

Even if he does, there are some strong options for De Zerbi.

Tottenham goalkeepers ranked - 5/10

Goalkeeper was beginning to look like a real problem area last season, and we're not entirely convinced it has been solved yet.

Dubravka is an experienced and canny operator, but he is likely act predominantly as back-up following his arrival.

The Italian missed the end of last season through injury and was displaced by Antonin Kinsky, leading to reports he could return home in the window.

Kinsky, as things stand, is likely to retain the number one jersey, but his horror show in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid last term was a reminder that he still has plenty of improvement to make.

Could it be that Tottenham still look to bring in a new shot-stopper? Manchester City's England international James Trafford is reportedly being tracked.

Tottenham's forwards ranked - 4/10

Looking at the picture so far, you would have to say that Tottenham need improvement in the final third.

Right now, there is no obvious candidate to play on the left flank, with Wilson Odobert injured and, even if he weren't, a possible upgrade would be wanted.

Mohammed Kudus is a strong choice on the right flank, but endured a lot of issues with injury last season.

De Zerbi would also love a new striker. Richarlison had a very creditable campaign last time out, but Dominic Solanke struggled with injury and form.

It is the area that sticks out quite clearly as an area of the squad that could be improved.
