Antonin Kinsky's next steps outlined after new Tottenham contract
Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky will be pushing to start for the Czech national team.
That is the view of Lilywhites expert John Wenham, after the 23-year-old signed a new deal last Tuesday.
The former Slavia Prague man looked to be heading for an exit after a disastrous evening against Atletico Madrid, but has revived his career in North London.
Kinksy's new contract at Tottenham is actually the same length as his previous deal, but with a pay rise.
That is well deserved after a stunning end to the 2025-26 campaign, where he made crucial saves to keep Spurs in the Premier League.
Wenham revealed the next steps for the stopper after he agreed to fresh terms.
What are the next stages for Antonin Kinsky after new Tottenham deal?
Wenham believes that Kinsky will look to secure the number one position at both club and international level.
The Lilywhite Rose account owner thinks that playing in a Spurs team that look to be on the rise will only help his chances of winning his first cap.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: "It gives him the opportunity now to really establish himself at a Tottenham team that are going to be on an upwards positive trajectory.
"His goals will be, firstly, getting that number one shirt, and secondly, getting himself the number one shirt for his national team, the Czech Republic, as well.
"I don't think that's that much of an ask, if he's playing week in, week out for Tottenham, I expect him to start getting those opportunities.
"I think there was an outside chance he was going to get called up for the World Cup this time, obviously, the Czechs were very disappointing in the tournament, but he opted to have a surgery that he'd put off, ensuring that he stayed fit for Tottenham."
Who is Kinsky's competition for Czech goalkeeping spot?
Kinksy's competition for the role with his nation are Matej Kovar of PSV, Slavia Prague's Jindrich Stanek and Lukas Hornicek, who plays for Braga.
Given that they all play in leagues that are nowhere near the Premier League, when it comes to reputation, surely it is only a matter of time for the Spurs man.
He will likely make his international debut in the near future, and if he performs as he has recently for his club, he will take the jersey and make it his own.
