Tottenham transfer: Postecoglou closes in on brand new striker deal

Tottenham are closing in on a deal to sign Ajax striker Brian Brobbey, according to Record.

The Portuguese newspaper reports in its print edition (page 74, 25 January) that Ange Postecoglou’s side are expected to beat West Ham to the 22-year-old’s signature.

The Daily Mirror (page 55, 23 January) stated that Spurs were pushing to sign another attacker and it seems like they have found their man with the Netherlands international.

The seven-cap striker has scored three goals and notched seven assists in 29 appearances in all competitions for the Amsterdam club this season.

Tottenham finally set to add an attacker?

The Lilywhites have endured a tough season with Postecoglou under severe pressure after a run of just one win in ten Premier League matches.

They find themselves in 15th place in the top flight after winning just seven of their 22 league matches in what has been a frustrating campaign.

The need for a forward has been exacerbated by Dominic Solanke’s latest injury blow, Spurs’ star striker is set to miss up to six weeks with a knee injury.

Timo Wener has struggled to make an impact when called upon, with zero goals and three assists in 17 appearances and is currently out with a hamstring issue.

Brennan Johnson has notched seven goals and two assists but is out of action with a thigh problem, further accelerating the need for an attacking signing.

A move for Brobbey would strengthen Postecoglou’s options tremendously if he can rediscover the form that saw him net 18 times in the Eredivisie last season.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs could be set to lose Timo Werner after interest emerged in the German forward.
