Tottenham Hotspur are keeping close tabs on Genclerbirligi talent Ousmane Diabate.

The Lilywhites have long had an eye for young stars with the hope of getting to them before anyone else.

Luka Vuskovic is a recent example of that, with his performances at Hamburg proving just how useful that transfer strategy can be.

The same can be said about Lucas Bergvall, who has become a North London regular since his move from Sweden to Djurgarden.

The Red and Black outfit may have fallen to a 2-1 defeat, but the Guenian still managed to make a positive impression at Eryaman Stadyumu.

That will almost certainly catch the eye in the stands, with Tottenham said to be keeping a close eye on his progress.

Local journalist Safa Can Konuksever has reported that a Spurs official was in attendance at the game to follow Diabate in particular.

The Lilywhites already have key youngsters, with someone like Luca Williams-Barnett showing his class at Tottenham, but he could be joined by the Genclerbirligi midfielder very soon.

The 2007-born midfielder may have only broken into the senior side this season, but has already made a positive impression.

In his early showings in the Super Lig, fans have compared him to Yaya Toure, with his first goal involvement coming as an assist against Trabzonspor on Wednesday.

He may be at an early stage of his first-team career, but it is clear that the Lilywhites see something in him as one for the future.

Going to watch him in the Turkish Cup looks to have been wise after he chipped in with 10 defensive contributions, the most on the pitch.

He also completed the joint most dribbles with three while winning seven of his eight attempted duels in the midfield.

Diabate showed the North London club what he can do, so it will certainly be interesting to see if a deal can be done moving into the summer and beyond.
