Randal Kolo Muani: Tottenham exit all but confirmed as transfer now lined up

Randal Kolo Muani is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, after an underwhelming loan spell in North London.

After shining for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2022-23 campaign, things have not gone quite right for the Frenchman.

Struggling to hit the ground running for Paris Saint-Germain, he would be sent out on loan to both Juventus and Tottenham.

The versatile forward did rack up a run of games as Spurs secured survival under Roberto De Zerbi, though he failed to make enough of an impact to warrant a summer deal.

Now, he is set to return to Paris, with parent club PSG already lining up a summer exit.

PSG exit talks commence for Randal Kolo Muani

Operating across multiple roles in an underperforming Tottenham side, Kolo Muani’s fortunes were rather synonymous with the Lilywhites’ season itself.

Scoring just once and laying on one assist in the Premier League, Kolo Muani would often flatter to deceive – hardly winning over the Spurs fanbase in the process.

As reported by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Kolo Muani will head back to the Parc des Princes before moving on once again.

Juventus are once again interested in the forward, after the Bianconeri looked to bring him back to Turin in January.

Joining on loan in January 2025, the 27-year-old would score 10 times and register three assists across 22 appearances under ex-Spurs boss Igor Tudor.

Operating in a more natural number nine role, the move could be the best option for Kolo Muani on a personal level, after becoming a key figure at Italy’s biggest club.

Despite a disappointing term in North London, he will be somewhat remembered by Tottenham fans as someone who never downed his tools during the difficult predicament at the bottom, with his effort not going unnoticed.

Randal Kolo Muani was handed a difficult opportunity at Tottenham

When his successes at Eintracht Frankfurt and Juventus are considered, the fact is that both sides were essentially built around him.

As a player, Kolo Muani is not an old-school number nine; instead, he is someone capable of linking with teammates telepathically, while his movement causes huge problems in and around the box.

Joining Frankfurt in 2022, the forward would net 26 times and provide 17 assists across all competitions, with Oliver Glasner’s system tailor-made to get the best out of him.

The same cannot be said at Spurs, where he arrived having to prove himself, rather than having a direct pathway to the side.

With this in mind, Kolo Muani struggled for minutes as a central striker and was ultimately pushed out wide in the latter stages of the season.

With De Zerbi inheriting a razor-thin squad, the Italian had little choice but to deploy Mathys Tel and Kolo Muani on the flanks, despite neither being a winger by trade.

As a result, the pair were on a hiding to nothing, with Kolo Muani on the right particularly struggling due to his limited one‑on‑one ability in wider areas.

Nonetheless, he remained part of the squad that dragged Tottenham over the line in the survival battle and will be remembered as such.

Even so, it is best for all parties that he returns this summer to a club where he is truly valued.
