Matteo Moretto reported on Monday that Spurs have verbally agreed a deal with the centre-back ahead of signing a four-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The North Londoners could be set to beat “several European giants”, including Liverpool, to his signature this summer.

Senesi has long been linked to Tottenham, and it finally looks as if a deal will be done, though it could spell bad news for van de Ven’s future.

The 29-year-old is coming off the back of four years at Bournemouth, where he has largely operated as a left-sided centre-back.

He has picked up bags of Premier League experience in that time and would represent an asset for whoever signs him this summer.

Spurs could be pushing for his signature amid uncertainty surrounding van de Ven and a potential big-money move elsewhere, with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool interested.

He has been the left-footed centre-half regular in N17 since coming in from Wolfsburg, so bringing in a new option in that role may represent the end of the road.
