Luka Vuskovic is not keen on returning to Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.

The talented 19-year-old has impressed on loan at Hamburg in the Bundesliga this season and is one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in world football.

As a result, a host of clubs are believed to be circling for his signature ahead of the summer.

Spurs supporters are worried that Vuskovic could leave without first playing a competitive game in North London, despite having a deal that runs until 2030.

How does Luka Vuskovic feel about returning to Tottenham?

In recent weeks, reports in Germany have linked Bayern Munich to the talented young defender, while it has also been claimed that Vuskovic is on Real Madrid’s shortlist.

Hamburg would be keen to extend his loan stay, too, leaving both Spurs and the prodigy with a multitude of options at the end of the campaign.

But with Tottenham teetering on the brink of a shock Premier League relegation, the Croatian is unsurprisingly not in a hurry to head back to N17.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who have stated he is “not keen to return”. The same outlet has also floated Barcelona as a potential suitor for the former Hajduk Split man.

Much may depend on whether Spurs are indeed able to stave off the drop, but even then, survival might not be enough to convince him to pledge his loyalty to their shaky project.

Indeed, former Tottenham ace Ramon Vega claimed Vuskovic will leave, while the player’s father has openly discussed the idea of him seeking a move elsewhere.

He told Sportske Novosti: “I don’t know if Tottenham only see him as a future player or if they would be open to a transfer if they received a suitable offer.”

This truly speaks volumes about Spurs’ current crisis and its far-reaching effects.

Vuskovic is already a Hamburg hero

Despite being a defender by trade, Vuskovic has proven himself as a formidable goalscorer.

Making 22 Bundesliga appearances to date this season, he has netted five times and registered an assist, earning himself a cult hero status at the Volksparkstadion.

His most recent strike came from the penalty spot in the 2-1 victory against Wolfsburg, after he was fouled in the box before converting the resultant spot-kick.

According to journalist Seb Stafford-Bloor, top-flight defenders have been unable to handle Vuskovic’s sheer physicality, forcing them to rely on sloppy challenges.

While not yet a complete, all-round defender, he is certainly close, and it would be nothing short of a travesty if Spurs’ nightmarish campaign causes him to move on.
