Guglielmo Vicario: Tottenham fans in disbelief as £17m fee floated for transfer – ‘Are we kidding?’

Guglielmo Vicario has been linked with a £17million move to Inter Milan, with Tottenham Hotspur fans shocked at the transfer fee.

It has been far from the Italian’s best season in football, as he has been a consistent point of criticism for the Lilywhites faithful.

Due to that, the 29-year-old has ultimately been tipped to leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer as Spurs look to upgrade in that position.

Inter Milan have recently emerged as a potential landing destination for Vicario as they look to seal a move worth around £17m.

However, fans believe a transfer away from Tottenham should not be accepted if that is the fee in question.

Tottenham fans react to Guglielmo Vicario exit news

On 19 March, Daily Mail journalist Matt Barlow shared that Inter Milan are closing in on a summer move for Vicario.

A deal around £17m has been discussed, with Tottenham keen on letting the Italian go following his displays this campaign.

However, while fans have been critical of the 29-year-old, they feel that Spurs are agreeing to a terrible deal for Vicario,

Supporters have taken to social media to react to the news as they feel the N17 outfit could seek more money.

One fan reacted in shock saying: “17?????? are we kidding.”

Others followed suit in similar fashion, with the overall sentiment largely being that Inter Milan are getting the better end of this deal.

Plenty more Spurs fans continued with the same reaction about Vicario to Inter Milan.

Suggestions that Tottenham should be looking to get at least double the fee being talked about came from one fan.

They stated on X: “£17m is not enough; maybe £35m that’s still cheap in today’s market, plus he’s an international still to hit his peak and best years.”

Others agreed that a deal in the £30m range could be more representative of a fair deal.

Although the Spurs goalkeeper has come under fire, Vicario has shown he still has plenty of quality to give.

However, with his lack of consistency between the sticks, a parting of ways does make sense for all parties.

How much is Vicario actually worth?

Tottenham fans may have a point about Spurs being undercut on a deal for Vicario, but not as much as they are suggesting.

According to Transfermarkt, the Italian shot-stopper’s current market value is floated to be around £20m.

It is quite a dip from his highest value while in N17, when in December 2024, he was said to be worth £30m.

If Vicario is sold for the £17m fee, that would end up providing the North London club with a profit on the goalkeeper.

The former Empoli star was bought for a similar price, and with depreciation on his book value coming over the past two seasons, recouping their money back counts as profit on their finances.
