Tottenham have Ange Postecoglou example in shock Igor Tudor sack reveal

Tottenham Hotspur should learn from Nottingham Forest’s mistakes as the pressure on Igor Tudor increases.

The Tricky Trees appointed the Australian manager after sacking Nuno Espirito Santo, but he lasted just eight games at the City Ground.

Postecoglou’s first game in charge of the West Bridgford club was against Arsenal, with the 60-year-old’s team suffering a 3-0 defeat on his return to North London.

While many fans want to see Tudor gone from Spurs, the Lilywhites may be better off waiting until after their trip to Liverpool on 15 March.

Igor Tudor will be sacked before Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest

Paul Merson would be shocked if Tottenham keep Tudor in charge for the Forest fixture.

While the former Arsenal star doesn’t think the North London outfit will keep the Croatian manager in charge for much longer, he expects him to remain in the dugout at Anfield.

If a new manager does come in at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a heavy defeat to the Reds could potentially be demoralising.

Spurs face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League last 16 before welcoming Forest at home on 22 March.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on 13 March, Merson said, “When Ange took the Forest job, he took it at Arsenal and thought ‘We’ve got to Arsenal, free hit’. Got absolutely ripped to shreds. And that was the start of going straight down.

“For me, I don’t think [the Liverpool game] is a free hit at all. I think you come in as a manager and get beaten by three or four goals, and it’s like, ‘What’s he done?’ I think they’ll wait. I’ll be shocked if he’s the manager next week.”

Who can replace Igor Tudor at Spurs?

Robbie Keane is being linked with Tottenham after an impressive spell at Ferencvaros.

The Republic of Ireland international’s past connection with the North London outfit as a player is seen as a plus point by many fans.

While supporters in N17 would love to see Mauricio Pochettino back at Spurs, he’s tasked with leading the US men’s national team in the 2026 World Cup.

It will be interesting to see what the Lilywhites eventually decide to do as Tudor’s exit seems inevitable.
