Jurgen Klinsmann on Tottenham shortlist to replace Igor Tudor, Ryan Mason tipped for coaching role
Jurgen Klinsmann could be set for a sensational return to Tottenham Hotspur in the near future.
Klinsmann signed for Spurs in 1994, spending one season in North London, and he notched 29 goals and 14 assists, becoming a hero with supporters.
He returned on loan in the 1997–1998 season, where he added a further nine goals and one assist, to cement his status.
With Igor Tudor on thin ice in the Tottenham dugout, he could return to try and save the club from relegation.

What has been said about Klinsmann return to Tottenham?
Spurs insider John Wenham named Klinsmann among the candidates, as he called for Tudor to be handed his marching orders at Tottenham.
He also believes that Ryan Mason could return in a coaching capacity to help the German with the demands of the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Four games managed, four games lost, 14 goals conceded, a feeling of going backwards, I don’t see how Igor Tudor gets us out of this relegation battle that we absolutely are in.
“A change is needed, you are probably looking at a club man to come in now, that gives you a shortlist of Glenn Hoddle, Harry Redknapp, Jurgen Klinsmann or Chris Hughton.
“They would have to come in with a younger coach as well, with a more modern understanding of football, possibly a Ryan Mason or even Tim Sherwood.
“I don’t see Tudor, the way he handled the Kinsky substitution and his other behaviors on the touchline were not impressive, he should be replaced at this stage with a club man to come in and galvanise the support and the players.”
Who makes the most sense for Tottenham?
Out of the candidates raised by Wenham, Hughton and Klinsmann are the two who were in management more recently.
Klinsmann last managed in 2024 with the South Korea national team, which is a totally different environment to club football and the situation that Spurs are in.
Hughton managed the Ghana national team from 2023-2024, and has not been in a dugout since he was sacked from that post.
Redknapp last managed with Birmingham City in 2017, so has been out of the game for nearly a decade in terms of being in the dugout.
Hoddle has been out of the game even longer with his last managerial stint in charge of Wolves being from 2004–2006, so he would surely be out of the running.
Klinsmann may well be the best candidate as he would bring the kind of respect needed, given that he is a World Cup winner and he took Germany to third place in that tournament as a manager.
His lack of English top-flight experience in management would be a concern, but with someone like Mason behind him, who knows most of the squad, it may be a clever move.
