Harry Redknapp ‘would bin off Gold Cup’ as ’emergency action’ now called for at Tottenham
Jamie O’Hara is adamant that Harry Redknapp would not turn down the chance to save Tottenham Hotspur in their time of need.
Tottenham hit a new low on Tuesday as they were thumped 5-2 away at Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
Igor Tudor’s time in North London already appears to be up, despite only arriving as Thomas Frank’s successor last month.
Tudor is on the verge of being sacked after losing all four games in charge, leading to talk of a firefighter – such as Redknapp – coming in.

Harry Redknapp named as surprise candidate for Tottenham job
Tottenham chiefs took a massive risk in appointing Tudor, even if it was only until the end of the season, given his lack of experience managing in the Premier League.
Tudor’s approach, though, has been all wrong. Instead of putting an arm around the players, he has instead taken the opposite approach.
Hauling off Anton Kinsky in the first half against Atletico was a case in point, with the goalkeeper’s confidence now even more shattered than before.
And speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday evening, former Spurs player O’Hara said he would hapilly take Redknapp at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Redknapp is currently enjoying time at Cheltenham Festival, but O’Hara does not see that as any sort of hurdle, so to speak.
“Stop talking about the Gold Cup! Tottenham is bigger than the Gold Cup,” O’Hara said. “Harry Redknapp would bin off the Gold Cup to come and manage Spurs.
“Come and manage Spurs. They need to get someone in; they need someone in so quick. You need someone who knows a formation and will stick to it.
“[Tudor]’s played four different teams and four different formations. How can he take over a club of this magnitude? He hasn’t got a clue.”
Redknapp is currently considered the sixth favourite to replace Tudor, with Ryan Mason, Robbie Keane, Roberto De Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino and Sean Dyche all ahead of him.
When did Redknapp last manage a team?
The thinking behind Redknapp coming on board for the final couple of months of the season is that he ‘gets the club’.
That is all well and good, but it must be remembered the veteran manager is now 79 years old and has not been at a club since 2017.
That spell at Birmingham City lasted just a month into the season after a run of five successive losses, and he has not been in a dugout since.
However, regardless of who comes in, a change is needed right now.
Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust put out a statement late on Tuesday calling for “emergency action” to prevent the Lilywhites going into the Championship.
Whether it is Redknapp, Dyche or any of those aforementioned names, a change needs to be made before the clash with Liverpool next weekend.
