Tottenham ‘worst possible nightmare’ becomes clear as date circled in diaries

Tottenham Hotspur face a “doomsday scenario” as their relegation fate could be sealed away at London rivals Chelsea, with West Ham staying up at their expense.

The Lilywhites are in a relegation battle, sitting 16th and just one point above the relegation zone, with nine matches left to play.

West Ham, Arsenal and Chelsea are all having very different seasons, but they could combine to cause the ultimate pain for their London rivals.

Tottenham supporters have endured enough in this campaign, however, the scenario raised would probably tip them over the edge.

Nightmare scenario on the cards for Tottenham

John Wenham raised the concerning scenario that all Tottenham fans would dread at the end of the campaign.

The penultimate weekend of the season, between 17-19 May, will be circled in their diaries as they face Chelsea, the Gunners could wrap up the title, and the Hammers could avoid the drop.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “There is this Doomsday scenario, where we would get relegated at Stamford Bridge with a game to go, the same day that Arsenal would be crowned champions, and obviously West Ham would stay up at our expense.

What fixtures do Tottenham have in the run-in?

Tottenham’s fixtures in the run-in do not look easy by any means.

They face a trip to Liverpool next, before a relegation six-pointer with Nottingham Forest, then a visit to Sunderland, who have been the surprise package of the top-flight.

They host Brighton after that, before two trips to the Midlands to face a rejuvenated Wolves side and an Aston Villa side that could still be fighting to get in the Champions League.

The Lilywhites host Leeds and an Everton side pushing for Europe at home, with a visit to Liam Rosenior’s side sandwiched in the middle of those two games.

That is a hard run of matches for any team, but especially one that has won just two of its last 15 league matches, and is facing a crisis.

Hopefully, they are long out of relegation trouble before the clash with the Blues, as that would be too much to take for most supporters, being relegated by one of their arch-rivals.
