Tottenham fans don’t deserve what’s happening as Redknapp speaks for everyone
Tottenham Hotspur are potentially 90 minutes away from being relegated from the Premier League, with their fans being made to pay.
Spurs knew a point from Tuesday’s trip to bogey ground Stamford Bridge would have effectively sealed safety with a game to go.
However, Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos struck for Chelsea, prior to Richarlison’s consolation goal, as Chelsea came out on top 2-1.
That leaves the Lilywhites now needing a point at home to Everton on the final day, should West Ham beat Leeds United in their final game.
It makes for a very tense finale to a campaign that will go down as one of the worst in Tottenham’s history.

Tottenham face tougher final game than West Ham
Roberto De Zerbi has rightly described the visit of Everton this coming weekend as a “final” for Tottenham.
If Spurs lose and West Ham beat Leeds, Tottenham will drop into the second tier for the first time since 1977.
| Tottenham’s last four | |

Tuesday’s trip to Chelsea was a huge opportunity missed, coinciding with Arsenal being crowned champions, with Jamie Redknapp speaking for a lot of Spurs fans with his comments.
“Can you imagine North London if Arsenal win the title and Tottenham go down,” he said on Sky Sports. “How would that feel to Tottenham fans? They don’t deserve that.”
“They are sleepwalking towards relegation. I said it earlier this season. The only thing that’s saved them is a couple of good results.
“Now they’ve got to find a way to win a game at home. Their home form has been horrendous all season. They’ve had no quality and no character to win a football match.
“Now they’ve got to find a way to beat Everton. I’d rather be playing Leeds at home than Everton. Do I still think they survive by the skin of their teeth?

“Maybe, because I think there’s a chance they could draw at the weekend. But can they win? They haven’t won at home since December. December!”
Redknapp is spot on to flag Tottenham’s dreadful home record, which is what will make fans particularly anxious heading into the final day.
No Premier League teams has worse home record than Tottenham
Opta’s supercomputer still has Tottenham as strong favourites to survive Premier League relegation.
However, a deeper look at the stats highlight why fans are not as confident. Tottenham are joint-bottom of the table for home results only this season
Spurs have taken just 12 points from a possible 54 on their own patch this campaign – the same number as Burnley and two fewer than Wolves.
What is particularly concerning is that Everton have been better on the road this season than at home, having taken 26 points so far – only Manchester City and Arsenal have more on their travels.

Losing to Chelsea is nothing new – only against Manchester United (40 vs 39) have Spurs lost more times in the Premier League – but the manner of it was a worry.
De Zerbi named the same starting XI for a third game running, which Spurs last did in April 2023, but he may need a rethink against Everton.
The bottom line is that the statistics do not lie. Tottenham are where they are for a reason, and if this game goes to form, Spurs will need a favour from Leeds if they are to stay up.
