Tottenham’s Premier League relegation chances updated by supercomputer after Chelsea loss
Tottenham Hotspur‘s relegation chances have shifted once again after their loss to Chelsea.
Once again falling against their rivals at Stamford Bridge, Roberto De Zerbi‘s side are left having to secure survival on the final day against Everton.
There has been a clear uptick in performance under the Italian, though Spurs have been unable to pull away from the drop zone to what is really, a lack of quality.
Survival remains in their hands, with a two-point lead over West Ham heading into Sunday, but there is unnecessary pressure after a string of underwhelming results.
Ahead of the weekend, Opta’s supercomputer has given its verdict on the final standings.

Supercomputer drops verdict ahead of Tottenham final-day showdown
Fortunately, things look much better for Tottenham than they did a month ago.
Picking up successive wins against Wolves and Aston Villa, the Lilywhites were able to climb out of the bottom three – before the two most recent results have left them unable to pull away.
| Tottenham’s last four | |
| Wolves vs Tottenham | 0-1 |
| Aston Villa vs Tottenham | 1-2 |
| Tottenham vs Leeds | 1-1 |
| Chelsea vs Tottenham | 2-1 |
Heading to Stamford Bridge, Spurs were considered the underdogs, with Chelsea given a 45.5 per cent chance of taking three points, compared to Tottenham’s 29.9 per cent.
This was unsurprising given their record of just one win in 35 at the home of the Blues, before it proved correct on the evening, despite the visitors racking up an xG of 1.72, while Chelsea scored twice from a figure of 0.63.
As a result, all is there to play for on the final day.
Thankfully for Spurs, their fate remains within their own hands, and this is reflected in Opta‘s supercomputer prediction.
Heading into Sunday, De Zerbi’s side’s chances of finishing 17th sit at 86.67 per cent, with the remaining figure of 13.33 per cent sitting as their relegation chances.
By comparison, West Ham have an 86.67 per cent chance of going down.
Nonetheless, Spurs will have to cover themselves from whatever West Ham get up to against a Leeds side riddled with injuries, with nothing of their own to play for as they see out the season.
Tottenham will want to rid 2025-26 season from their memories
The current campaign has been one to forget for Tottenham, who have just been unable to get going throughout the season.
Despite a clear improvement in performance under De Zerbi, the lack of quality in what is an incredibly thin squad has continued to cost him throughout his time in the dugout.

With Everton making the trip to North London, there are good omens for Sours, having lost just once at home to the Toffees since making the stadium move in 2019, with this coming behind closed doors in 2020.
At the same time, David Moyes’ side are also unable to achieve a European spot as a result of their recent form, and the big Chelsea win in the battle for continental spots.
Against a team without much to play for, Tottenham have to relish the occasion, and ensure that their destiny remains in their hands, avoiding letting the result at the London Stadium impact what happens in North London.
