Roberto De Zerbi already second-favourite to be sacked next in Premier League after Tottenham woes
Roberto De Zerbi hasn't enjoyed the start to 2026-27 he would've been looking for at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 47-year-old was appointed Tottenham boss in late March following the disastrous short-term hiring of Igor Tudor.
Of course, the Italian was able to guide Spurs to Premier League safety, and has been backed heavily in the transfer market this summer.
As a result, many expected the Lilywhites to look a lot better this season, but so far, ghosts of managers and campaigns past are haunting N17.
With zero wins from their opening three Premier League games, Tottenham currently find themselves in the relegation zone.
Of course, there is a lot of time to address this, but Tottenham chiefs aren't always the most accommodating to managers when results aren't arriving.
Which Premier League manager is favourite to be sacked ahead of Roberto De Zerbi?
De Zerbi signed a five-year contract with Tottenham upon his appointment earlier this year.
Because of this, the compensation required to sack him would surely be enormous for Spurs.
No club wants to sack their manager, and Lilywhites chiefs certainly won't want that for De Zerbi after the money they've given him to build a squad.
But football is a ruthless industry, and if performances, and more critically, results, don't improve soon Spurs may have no choice.
Currently, major bookmakers have Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa as the most likely Premier League manager to be sacked first at 3/1.
De Zerbi is second-favourite at 5/1, with Aston Villa's Unai Emery third-likeliest at 15/2.
The future of De Zerbi at Tottenham could be clearer after the next five league games or so, but how tough is that next period on paper for Spurs?
How many points can Tottenham expect from next five games?
That isn't to say De Zerbi only has five games to save his Tottenham job, but Spurs chiefs will be looking for major improvements over this run.
Everton visit N17 this Saturday as the first of the Lilywhites' next five league games.
David Moyes' side are unbeaten in all competitions to start 2026-27, so perhaps a point is a realistic target from this one, but all three are needed in home games.
Then Aston Villa come to town, and with the Villains also winless in all competitions, De Zerbi's side must take three points here.
Old Trafford is next on the agenda after that, and whilst Spurs have largely had United's number in recent times, a point wouldn't be a bad result at all.
Coventry City come to North London on 19 October, and like Villa, this simply can't be anything less than three points for Tottenham.
A trip to Stamford Bridge marks the fifth game in Tottenham's upcoming run, and whilst in a derby anything can happen, a win will be a big ask.
Overall then, Tottenham can realistically target at least eight points from their next five, which would surely be a good enough return to ease the pressure on De Zerbi.
