And it looks as though the club have made positive progress in their pursuit of signing a new defender. However, they have also been hit by a setback in another one of their transfer pursuits.

Tottenham favourites to sign Ipswich Town star Liam Delap
According to the latest bookmakers’ odds, Spurs are 11/2 favourites to sign Ipswich striker Liam Delap before 3 February.
William Hill have the North London club ahead of Arsenal (13/2) and Chelsea (7/1) in the running to snap up the 21-year-old. Former Spurs scout Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News that Ipswich would accept a bid of £50million for the striker.
Tottenham swap transfer proposed for Tyler Dibling deal
According to the Express (30 January), Southampton have discussed the possibility of including Tyrese Hall in a deal with Spurs for Tyler Dibling.
Postecoglou’s side have held concrete talks with Dibling’s representatives [via Florian Plettenberg, 24 January] ahead of a potential move to North London.
Mathys Tel rejects Tottenham after Daniel Levy talks
As reported by Fabrizio Romano (31 January), Mathys Tel rejected a move to Spurs after Daniel Levy travelled to Munich [via Fabrizio Romano, 31 January] to discuss the move with the player and his agent.
Spurs and Bayern Munich agreed a deal in principle over a £50million transfer for the 19-year-old on Thursday [via Le Parisien, 30 January], with Harry Kane expected to be involved in talks.
However, Tel has decided against a move to North London in a blow to Tottenham, Levy and Postecoglou.

Tottenham reach £25m verbal agreement for Fikayo Tomori transfer
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio (31 January), Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.
Di Marzio provided an update, sharing via X later on Friday that Spurs had reached a verbal agreement with AC Milan for the transfer of Tomori, agreeing a fixed fee of £20.9million and £4.1million in bonuses.
Spurs must now await Tomori’s decision.
In other Tottenham news, Paul Merson has suggested Tel’s transfer to the club could still be alive.
