Ipswich Town would accept a £50million bid for Tottenham-linked striker Liam Delap, according to a transfer expert.

As reported by TEAMtalk (20 January), Tottenham could face competition from Chelsea as the North London side consider a "blockbuster" move for Delap in the winter transfer window - with Dominic Solanke's recent injury setback increasing the need for a new striker.

Ange Postecoglou's side have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old previously [via CaughtOffside, 22 October], with Manchester City expected to control any transfer negotiations.

And ex-Spurs scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - thinks a bid of £50m would be enough to seal the deal.

"Delap is an old-fashioned English centre-forward," King said.

"I thought Spurs already had one of those in Will Lankshear. However, it doesn't seem as though the club agree with that. Delap was never going to get a chance at Manchester City with Erling Haaland around. However, he has done well at Ipswich - he has as many goals as Solanke and Richarlison combined in the Premier League this season.

"Personally, I think Spurs need a striker. Whether or not Ipsiwch would be prepared to let him go is a different story. However, I think they would accept £50m for him. Spurs paid that kind of money for Solanke and Richarlison, and this is a young English player who is producing goals."

Tottenham to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap?

Postecoglou is under serious pressure in North London, with King sharing when Daniel Levy could decide to fire the Spurs boss.

Therefore, the Australian needs all the help he can get, and signing Delap would certainly be a big help.

Not only is the striker showing promise now, but he is still young and has time to develop even further. As a result, his arrival would certainly lift the mood in North London.

However, whether or not Spurs pay the money required to complete a deal is a different story altogether.
